The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has arranged for Binance executive, Tigran Gambaryan in court for tax invasion.

The Federal Government through the Federal Inland Revenue Service had earlier sued Binance Nigeria over its trading deals with subscribers but not remitting payment for value-added taxes.

Two executives were later arrested but Nadeem Anjarwalla escaped from the custody of the Nigeria Security Agent, NSA, leaving Tigran Gambaryan behind.

Gambaryan the second defendant was escorted into the court by heavily armed men while the proceeding was ongoing.

However, the case has suffered a setback as only the lawyer to Gambaryan was present and the charge has not been given to him.

The lawyer to the defendant, Chukwuka Ikwuazo, SAN, prayed to the court to allow his client to study the charge brought before him.

Justice Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court, Abuja, adjourned the case to April 19, 2024.
