Kano Senator Accuses Politicians of Dealing, Consuming Hard Drugs

Senator Kawu Sumaila of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), representing Kano South cried out at their plenary on Tuesday how many politicians are into illegal drug businesses and supporting the venture in Nigeria.

The bill seeking to establish the National Institute for Drug Awareness and Rehabilitation was sponsored by Senator Hanga Rufa’i from Kano Central.

In support of the bill, Sen. Sumaila accused his colleagues of stockpiling hard drugs in their homes and offices, calling on the Senate President to fish out the bad eggs inside before stepping outside.

He alleges that most of their constituencies held by senators are dens for hard drugs and can handy pick some of these politicians who are drug dealers, which is leading to the decadence in the country.

He also raised the motion of conducting a drug test for any politician who wants to assume public office before an election.
