Following a petition signed by Mrs Stella Maris Ibu, wife of Nigerian actor, Mr John Okafor aka Mr Ibu, against his sons and alleged daughter, police have recovered N50 million withdrawn from Mr Ibu’s account.

Detectives at the Force Criminal Investigation Department Annex, Alagbion in Ikoyi, Lagos have disclosed how Onyebuchi Okafor, Mr Ibu’s son and his lover, Jasmine Okekeagwu, the adopted daughter of the actor were arrested and charged to court for conspiracy and stealing.

According to the spokesperson for the FCID, ASP Mayegun Aminat the funds raised by Nigerians to offset the medical bills of the actor were initially managed by the wife, Mrs Stella Maris.

Along the line, Onyebuchi and Jasmine manipulated the whole process, took over the actor’s phone from the wife and hacked the bank application app.

The duo later installed the app on their phone through which they were able to transfer a total sum of N55 million to Onyebuchi’s account.

ASP Aminat said upon their arrest N5 million had already been spent by Jasmine and Onyebuchi.

Investigations also revealed that messages exchanged between the actor’s son and stepdaughter of their sham marriage were conducted at Ikoyi Registry and how they intended to elope to the United Kingdom.

The two have been charged to court and a bail of N15 million with two sureties in like sum has been given by the Chief magistrate.

The case was however adjourned to March 11th 2024.
