Implement New Minimum Wage from November,Gov. Sheriff directs ALGON

The Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has charged the leadership of the Association of Local Government of Nigeria, ALGON, to implement the new minimum wage for workers in their councils from the month of November this year.
Oborevwori who gave the charge during a meeting held with ALGON, the Nigeria Union of Teachers, National Union of Local Government Employees, the Local Government Auditor General, as well as the Secretary to the State Government, the Chief of Staff, Commissioner for Local Government Affairs, the Chairman Local Government Service Commission and the Accountant-General of the State, noted that with the passing of the Local Government autonomy law, a lot of burden has been put on the Councils as he directed that they implement the new minimum wage.
The state ALGON Chairman who is of Okpe Local government council, Isaiah Esiovwa, while speaking with newsmen noted this amongst the resolutions reached during their meeting.
Other resolutions reached were security matters where Esiovwa encouraged youths in the state to apply for the Paramilitary Jobs so as to be gainfully employed and to reduce the rate of insecurity in the country at large.
Meanwhile, Chairman Oshimili North Local Government Area, Innocent Esewezie, has called for all hands to be on deck to see to it that insecurity becomes a thing of the past in our different localities.
