House of Reps Raises N704.91m for Vulnerable Nigerians

Nigeria House of Representatives. 

In fulfillment of the promise made by the House of Representatives on July 18, 2024, to cut down their monthly salaries by 50 percent in order to use it to address the challenges faced by Nigerians, this will now be done by December 31, 2024.

The House has been able to raise the sum of N704.91 million, which will be presented to President Bola Tinubu for vulnerable citizens.

The motion was earlier moved by the Deputy Speaker of the House, Benjamin Kalu, and was adopted by all after a plea for a six-month salary slash.

Addressing the House members on Thursday with excitement, Speaker Tajudeen Abbas announced the total sum of N704,907,578.82 that was raised in five months.
