Hoodlums Attack Olu Of Warri In Okere, Four Arrested

Some unscrupulous youths on Saturday launched an attack on the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III at Okere Community in Warri.

The move has made the Itsekiri leaders, under the aegis of Ugbarajo Iwere Leaders Foundation (UILF), urge the Nigerian police to investigate the issue and bring the culprit to book.

During a meeting held on Wednesday by the leaders of the UILF foundation, they condemned the act and threw their support at the monarch.

Briefing newsmen after the meeting that was held in Warri, Hon Emmanuel Orugbo said for over a year these set of people have been disturbing the Okere community just to discredit the work of the king.

He said they are old men who parade themselves as youth and have been causing various kinds of destruction in the community, causing residents to be apprehensive coupled with the present economic situation.

Four suspects connected to the attack on Olu of Warri have been arrested and arraigned before a Federal High Court in Warri.

The case was adjourned to April 2, with the four suspects remanded at the Warri Correctional Facility.
