Following the demand by the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, protesting an Easter message that was derogatory to the Christian body, the Federal Inland Revenue Service has tendered an apology.

In a now-deleted post by the Federal Inland Revenue Service, FIRS, the agency wrote “Jesus paid your debt, not your taxes’.

The message brought a lot of outbursts from Christian, who demanded an apology and withdrawal of the statement.

FIRS said the statement was never meant to bring shame to the Christian body as they understood the essence of the celebration but it was to imbibe the culture of tax payment on citizens as their civil obligation.

The agency through its special media adviser, Dare Adekanmbi apologized to Christians who felt offended by the Easter Sunday message.
