FG: Total number of teachers not enough for 42 million students

The Federal Government on Monday expressed concern over the inadequacy of qualified teachers in the country, saying that the 1.4 million teachers in the system were not enough for the over 42 million pupils in basic schools.
The Executive Secretary of the Universal Basic Education Commission, Dr Hamid Boboye, stated this in Abuja after monitoring the conduct of the Federal Teachers Scheme FTS examination.
The government called on states to engage successful candidates who partake in the Federal Teachers Scheme examination.
