The former commissioner for works and infrastructure, Idris Saleh in the administration of former governor Abdullahi Ganduje, has been arrested by Kano Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC).

It was reported on Monday that the former commissioner was arrested alongside five others alleged to be involved in N1 billion fraud.

The N1 billion was for the rehabilitation of 30 roads and drainages within the Kano metropolis but the project was not executed.

The money for the projects was reportedly withdrawn in three portions and paid into three company accounts on April 23.

Muhuyi Magaji, the chairman of the Kano State PCACC  had earlier said the alleged fraud case against Ganduje will be re-opened.

Recall that in October 2018, Ganduje was allegedly captured in a video by an online newspaper while receiving and stuffing bundles of dollars into his pocket.

This is coming after the present governor of the state Abba Yusuf, reinstated Magaji on June 22 as the chairman of the commission after being sacked Ganduje.
