Former Governor of Delta State, Ifeanyi Okowa, who was held by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, has been released from Port Harcourt custody after meeting his bail conditions.
Okowa was earlier arrested by the EFCC on November 4 over the diversion of 1.3 trillion naira in derivation funds from the federation account sent to the state between 2015 and 2023.
The allegations also involved N40 billion used to acquire shares in UTM Floating Liquefied Natural Gas and shares from major banks in Nigeria.
An insider from the EFCC revealed, on the condition of anonymity, that Okowa was released last Wednesday after meeting his bail conditions, but his international passport was withheld.
