EFCC Arrests Former NDDC MD, Nsima Ekere

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested a former Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Mr. Nsima Ekere.

Ekere, who hails from Akwa Ibom, was arrested on Wednesday by operatives of the commission in Abuja.

The former NDDC is being accused of diverting N47 billion funds belonging to the interventionist agency through registered contractors.

It was learnt that Ekere was being presently grilled by officials of the commission at its headquarters in Abuja.

Ekere was NDDC Managing Director between November 2016 to 2018 when his appointment was terminated by President Muhammadu Buhari.

He is a chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akwa Ibom State.

Spokesman of the Commission, Wilson Uwajaren, confirmed the development.
