President Bola Tinubu has dismissed rumors that his party, the All Progressives Congress, APC, aims to turn Nigeria into a one-party state recalling his resistance to similar moves in 2003.
Tinubu who welcomed new APC members, including the Delta state Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, and Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, stressed that he will welcome those willing to join the APC as political competition is healthy for democracy.
However, Lead Activist and National Coordinator of Right and Anti corruption forum of Nigeria, Comrade Victor Ojei, had a contrary view insisting that democracy is not practiced in Nigeria as according to him, the president has been manipulating, blackmailing, and coaxing Governor’s of the southern Nigeria to join the APC.
Ojei alleged that some empowerments happening in the state are fraudulent as persons are coaxed to present their Permanent Voters Card, and NIN to gain numbers for the APC come 2027.
He insisted that the masses are suffering and deserves better as he encouraged Nigerians to vote out the ruling party come 2027 and vote in their conscience as power still lies in the hands of the people.
