The governorship election petition Tribunal has decided on the petition filed by Pela Kennedy, the Governorship Candidate of the Labour Party in Delta.

Pela had filed a petition challenging the victory of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.

The Tribunal had however dismissed Pela’s petition on grounds that he failed to apply for pre-hearing notice/forms.

Although Ken Pela’s petition has been dismissed, the situation is not completely resolved for Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.

Another challenge to his victory is still ongoing at the Tribunal.

Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, the governorship candidate of the Delta All Progressives Congress, has filed a separate petition challenging Governor Oborevwori’s victory.

The challenge brought by Senator Ovie Omo-Agege adds further complexity to the political situation in Delta State.

The outcome of this ongoing case will determine whether Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s victory stands or if there will be further legal proceedings or even a possible review of the election results.

It remains to be seen how the Tribunal will rule on Senator Omo-Agege’s petition and what implications it will have for the political landscape in Delta State.
