Justice Maryam Hassan of the High Court in Gwarinpa, FCT, has remanded ex-Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, in Kuje Prison on Friday.

The court sent the former Anambra Governor to Kuje on Friday despite him pleading not guilty to the eight counts leveled against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The charges from the EFCC include abuse of office and accepting kickbacks from firms that were awarded contracts by the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF).

The court ruled that Ngige be held in detention until Monday, when his bail application will be heard.
