Cholera Outbreak in Niger Kills 12, Over 200 Affected

The Commissioner for Primary Healthcare in Niger State, Dr. Ibrahim Dangana, and the state government, led by Gov. Mohammed Bago, have moved into action to curb the sudden outbreak of cholera in the state.
The outbreak was detected in Shiroro LGA on Sunday but has spread to over six LGAs, including Minna, Bosso, Shiroro, Magama, Bisa, and Munya as of Wednesday, with 239 persons affected and 12 lives lost.
Affected individuals are currently receiving treatment at various health centers, while an isolation center at the old wing of the Late Sen. Idris Kuta Primary Healthcare Centre in Minna has been established to curb the spread.
