Kabore’s state and whereabouts have been a key issue since he was overthrown by mutineering soldiers on Monday.

President Kabore is physically well and still under the hands of army kept in a presidential villa under arrest, a source from Kabore’s People’s Movement for Progress (MPP) party.

“He has a doctor available… (and) access to his mobile phone, but under surveillance, obviously.”

The Western African country, Burkina Faso is now in the hands of the Patriotic Movement for Preservation and Restoration (MPSR),  the junta led by Lieutenant-Colonel Paul-Henri Sandaogo Damiba, a regional commander in the east.

The junta has announced the dissolution of government parliament and suspension of the constitution, with the closing of land and air borders. But on Tuesday air border was reopened while little restrictions are still on land borders.

Damiba has met with the ousted ministers on Wednesday that they should not leave the country unless given permission to.

Kabore has written a resignation letter after the coup to avoid bloodbath and preserve peace.
