World football governing body FIFA, has slammed an indefinite ban on MKO Abiola Stadium Abuja from hosting international matches.

This is coming after the death of Joseph Kabungo, a medical doctor from Zambia, who died during a stampede after Nigeria fans invaded the Moshood Abiola National Stadium pitch, following a 1-1 draw with the Black Stars on Tuesday, March 29th.

It is not clear what other sanctions FIFA and the regional body CAF could mete out to the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, for failing to provide adequate security for the game but both bodies frown at fans’ encroachment into the field of play.
