Betta Edu: N30bn Now In Government Confers, EFCC

Keeping up with the update into the probed investigation of suspended Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Betta Edu, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has recovered N30 billion back into the confers of Government account.

Betta Edu and the former CEO of the National Social Investment Programme Authority, NSIPA, Halima Shehu are being investigated over an alleged misappropriation of fraud in the ministry.

Following the controversies trailing the ministry, President Bola Tinubu ordered the duo and others connected to alleged financial misconduct to be arrested.

Three months after their arrest Nigerians awaited the outcome of the investigation, while some cry that Betta be reinstated for the ministry to keep running.

However, the Chairman of EFCC, Ola Olukoyede added that 50 bank accounts traced to the case are under investigation and that Nigerians should be patient as these things take time and in due course will be unfolded.

Olukoyede stressed that the magnitude of the case alongside other cases being handled by the agency takes time for the investigation to be concluded and an update will be shared with the Nigerian citizens.
