AFCON: South Africa Beats Morocco to enter quarter-finals

The Bafana Bafana stars of South Africa on Tuesday shocked the Atlas Lions of Morroco with a 2-0 win in the ongoing African cup of Nations.

The goals scored by Evidence Makgopa in the 57th minute and Teboho Mokoena in a free kick at the 96th minute gave the South African side a lift into the quarter-finals.

Morroco stood a chance of equalizing when the score was at 1-0 but Archaf Hakimi missed the penalty they were awarded as the ball hit the crossbar.

The South African soccer team will now face Cape Verde in Yamoussoukro on Saturday for the quarter finals, meanwhile, the AFCON host, Ivory Coast will face Mali in Bouake.

In other quarterfinals, the Super Eagles of Nigeria will battle it out with the Black Sable antelopes of Angola on Friday 6pm (WAT) while Guinea will face the Democratic Republic of Congo by 9pm (WAT).
