Flood Destroys Properties in Ughelli

Parts of Ughelli North LGA have been submerged in flood following the overnight rain on Thursday that lasted until Friday morning, July 31, with residents waking up to find their properties totally destroyed.

Places that were affected include the Delta State High Court in Agbarho community, Orhokpokpor, Ehwere, Ughrwughelli, and Oviri communities, as residents have attributed the recurring flooding to a lack of drainage systems and blocked waterways.

The residents lamented the yearly damage during the rainy season. Speaking about the incident, a trader whose shop was affected described it as a major setback, as several goods were destroyed by the flood, resulting in significant financial losses.
