Following a purported mass abduction of school children in Edo North Senatorial District, three public schools have been shut down by the state government.

The alarm was raised by the Edo Command of the Department of State Services (DSS), leading to the temporary closure of three public secondary schools: Ososo Grammar School, Ososo Comprehensive High School, and Makeke Secondary School, all in Akoko-Edo Local Government Area.

Speaking on behalf of the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Enodolomwanyi Otamere stated that those sitting for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination should be allowed to sit for their exams under strict supervision, as the state government also admonished parents to be calm.
