A father has been arrested by police after allegedly abusing his 9-year-old daughter at a hotel in Issele-Uku, Aniocha North.
Information from the Delta State police command indicates that the father had lodged in a hotel with the girl but left the following day with strict instructions to the hotel management not to allow anyone into the room as he was going for a family function.
Upon returning, the father claimed the child was molested, reported the case to the police, and all staff of the hotel were arrested; however, the manager was later released on the grounds that he was absent when the incident occurred.
However, things took a different turn when the child was separated from the father and interviewed; that was when she spilled out to investigators. She was then handed over to the Child Rights Implementation Committee and referred to the Sexual Assault Referral Centre at the Asaba Specialist Hospital for further assessment and support.
According to the PPRO of the state, SP Bright Edafe, the case has been referred to the state CID, with further investigations ongoing.
