President Buhari to Nigerians:We needed to borrow

Justifying the nation’s debt profile,President Buhari has said that his administration needed to borrow to fund infrastructures like rail, power and roads.

This was issued in a statement by the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu titled “President Buhari justifies borrowing to fund infrastructure” on the virtual Econmic Advisory council meeting attended by the president. Quoting the president, Shehu said:

“We have so many challenges with infrastructure.”

“We just have to take loans to do roads, rail, and power, so that investors will find us attractive and come here to put their money,’’

The nation’s total debts is about N13trn, owed by the federal government and the  36 states of the federation.
