Edo Polls:Abdusalami warns against violence

Former president of Nigeria, Gen. Abdusalami Abubakar has warned the Edo state gubernatorial candidates on the consequences of a violent poll. Gen Abdusalami who is the chairman of the National Peace Committee stated this during the signing of the peace accord.

Gen. Abdusalami while speaking stated that the integrity of the PDP and APC candidates, Gov. Godwin Obaseki and Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu are on the line should there be a violation of the peace accord by their supporters.

The accord signed at the Oba Akenzua II cultural Centre, Benin City, was signed by Gov. Godwin Obaseki, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu and 12 other candidates.

The Edo state governor urged the commission to reach out to extend their hands to the non-political actors so as to ensure peaceful elections.
