A two-storey hotel building under construction, which is close to the Asaba Airport in Okpanam, collapsed on Wednesday following heavy downpour.
Residents began to scramble for safety when the loud sound was heard. While some of the workers at the construction site were rescued on Thursday evening, July 10, others are still being searched for.
There has not been a report of any lives lost but eyewitness accounts detailed how some of the construction workers came out with various injuries as they jumped into other buildings and some into bushes.
While the search is still ongoing, the state commissioner for Urban Renewal, Michael Anoka, is yet to respond to calls and messages.
