VP Shettima Presides Over NEC Meeting

Vice President Kashim Shettima is presiding over the second National Economic Council (NEC) meeting for this month at the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Those in attendance at the meeting are the 36 governors of the Federation, the Minister in charge of Finance, the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, and the Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, Mele Kyari among others.

Governors in attendance of NEC are Abdulrahman Abdulrazak (Kwara); Hope Uzodinma (Imo); Inuwa Yahya (Gombe); Dauda Lawal (Zamfara); Dikko Radda (Katsina); Dr. Alex Otti (Abia), Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos), Ademola Adeleke (Osun), Francis Nwifuru (Ebonyi).

Others are Senator Bala Mohammed (Bauchi), Senator Uba Sani(Kaduna), Sheriff Obrevwori (Delta), Nasir Idris (Kebbi), Prof. Charles Soludo (Anambra), Godwin Obaseki (Edo), David Onoja (Deputy governor of Kogi), Umaru Namadi (Jigawa).

Including Mai Mala Bunu (Yobe); Douye Diri (Bayelsa ); Umo Eno (Akwa Ibom); Prince Bassey Otu (Cross River); Lucky Aiyedatiwa (Ondo Acting governor); Dapo Abiodun (Ogun); Ahmad Aliu (Sokoto); Caleb Mutfwang (Plateau); Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia (Benue) and Umo Eno (Akwa Ibom).

The NEC meeting is a forum for the governors and other stakeholders to discuss economic issues towards improving the economy and today’s discussion will be centred on how palliatives will help cushion the effect of fuel subsidy on Nigerians.
