‎The Management of the University of Port Harcourt has released a statement clarifying the position of the female 300-level student, Cynthia Chukwudah, who set her boyfriend on fire at an off-campus hostel in Choba, Port Harcourt.

‎Cynthia Chukwundah’s identity was confirmed not to be that of a student of the University after verification of student records.

‎The whole drama unfolded when Cynthia allegedly set her boyfriend, Saint Sunny Amadi, a 32-year-old male from the Elibrada Community in Emohua LGA, ablaze in a room.

‎The severe burns led to the death of the young man at the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital despite efforts made by medical personnel.

‎According to reports making the rounds, Cynthia was a 300-level student of UniPort, and the incident was confirmed by the State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Grace Iringe-Koko, on Tuesday.

‎However, in a new twist, the school management, in a statement by Dr. Sammy Kpenu, Head of Information, Publications, and Public Relations, expressed deep regret over the loss of life associated with the unfortunate event and extended condolences, even as he warned the public to be mindful of information spread across to all.
