Super Eagles Will Receive Payments Soon, Sports Chairman Assures

The Chairman of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Shehu Dikko, has assured Nigeria’s Super Eagles players and officials that all financial entitlements will be resolved before the next match on Saturday.

Dikko revealed that the budget for the Super Eagles’ AFCON 2025 was approved by President Bola Tinubu in November 2023, but approvals and processing from different stages are reasons for the delay.

Assuring the players that the approved funds were being released, the sports commissioner said the Ministry of Finance and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) were working to ensure timely disbursement.

Dikko’s remarks were a result of the national team threatening to boycott training and travel to Marrakech for Saturday’s match against Algeria.
