‎With the high rate of quackery in Nigeria’s medical sector, which is becoming alarming, and the recent death of a young woman in Port Harcourt at Captain Amangala Street, Borokiri, Rivers State, the state Anti-Quackery Committee has shut down and revoked the clinic’s registration.

‎The clinic, which is run by one Comfort Etuk, has no licensed nurse and performs surgical operations in a very poor environment.

Outrage started pouring out last week following the death of Mrs. Victoria Paris, who delivered via caesarean section at a clinic in Port Harcourt but was refused a blood transfusion based on the medical personnel’s religious beliefs.

On Monday, action was taken by the Director of Medical Services, Rivers State Ministry of Health, Dr. Vincent Nwachukwu, as the facility was stormed unexpectedly.

‎The inspection revealed in a statement by Dr. Hope Avundaa that the clinic is being operated from a three-bedroom apartment, which was converted into a six-bed maternity home.

‎It also revealed that the clinic has no licensed nurse, has a poor environment, lacks a standard sterilization unit, and failed to meet infection prevention control standards.

‎With what was seen on the ground, the license was immediately revoked, and all health workers and doctors affiliated with the clinic have been summoned.
