Concerns have been raised by groups as videos circulating online show residents moving from their ancestral homes after the notorious terrorist, Bello Turji, gave them an ultimatum to leave the Tidibale community in Sokoto State.
The Secretary of the Sokoto Eastern Zone Development Association, Muazu Shamaki, confirmed that the videos shared online, showing overloaded vehicles of community residents running for their lives, are a call for government aid as they have been subjected to hardships.
Shamaki said more than 20 settlements have been affected by the spate of threats and forced displacement, the displaced residents were hopeful that security agencies would push back the terrorists to enable them to return to their ancestral homes.
The residents appealed for prompt government intervention, as residents in these communities fear to return home due to Bello Turji’s threat, as many other communities have been abandoned.
