With the battle between who are the bona fide members of Warri City and some carving out and calling a portion Wado City, the House of Representatives committee is planning the creation of additional states, including Warri State.
The House Constitution Review Committee is now proposing the creation of 31 new states to add to the already existing 36 states through a letter that was read by the Deputy Speaker, Benjamin Kalu, at a plenary session.
The proposed states include Okun State, Okura State, and Confluence State from Kogi; Benue Ala and Apa States from Benue; FCT State; Amana State from Adamawa; Katagum from Bauchi State; Savannah State from Borno; and Muri State from Taraba.
The states also include New Kaduna State and Gujarat State from Kaduna State; Tiga and Ari from Kano; Kainji from Kebbi State; Etiti and Orashi as the sixth state in the Southeast; Adada from Enugu; and Orlu and Aba from the Southeast.
While others are Ogoja from Cross River, Warri from Delta, Ori and Obolo from Rivers, Torumbe from Ondo, Ibadan from Oyo, Lagoon from Lagos, and Ogun, Ijebu from Ogun, and Oke Ogun/Ijesha from Oyo/Ogun/Osun states.
The Committee, however, takes a stand that the proposal for implementation would only be possible when the necessary guidelines, as stipulated by the constitution, are followed.
