In compliance with the purchase of aprons, rider’s cards, emblems, and stickers for motorcycle riders (okada) and tricycles (Keke), the Delta State Government has given a grace period of up to two weeks.
The government had earlier admonished riders to obtain the above items for a fee of N7,500 in order to track Keke and okada riders in the state for security purposes, but the majority are yet to comply with the directives.
In a statement on Monday, through the Director of Public Communication/Functioning Permanent Secretary in the State Ministry of Information, Harold Ojji, it was stated that the subsidized emblems, stickers, and aprons are to be purchased at the Commercial Motorcycle and Tricycles Operators’ Association (COMTOA) offices across the state.
Any defaulter caught after the two-week grace period, which will expire on August 18th, such as keke or okada, will be impounded by the Directorate of Transport Vehicle Inspection Officers (VIO), Security Agents, and the Commercial Motorcycle and Tricycle Operators’ Association, Delta State (COMTOA) Task Force.
