Following the coup d’etat by some group of soldiers in the Niger Republic to unseat the democratic government of Mohamed Bazoum, citizens have marched into the street chanting in support of the military.

According to a report from CNN thousands of people came out to give their support in front of the French Embassy with a shout of Long live Putin, for the Russian President, Vladimir Putin to come take over in the nation’s affairs.

The protester, angry over France’s dominating influence in its former colony brought down everything identifying the French Embassy and replaced it with the Russian and Niger flags.

Security forces were seen using tear gas to disperse the protesters while they in return started a fire outside the France embassy compound.

However, the office of France President,  Emmanuel Macron, had made it clear that they will be forced to retaliate against any Nigerien who will cause harm to any of their nationals or facilities.
