President Suspends EFCC Chairman Abdulrasheed Bawa

Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Abdulrasheed Bawa, has been suspended indefinitely from office by President Bola Tinubu.

The suspension was contained in a statement released Wednesday night by the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF).

The statement was signed by the Director of Information at the SGF office, Willie Bassey, that the Bawa suspension is a result of weighty allegations of abuse of office levelled against him.

According to the statement, Bawa’s suspension, was to allow proper investigation into his conduct while in office.

The EFCC boss was directed to immediately hand over the affairs of his office to the Director, Operations in the Commission, who will oversee the affairs of the office of the Chairman pending the conclusion of the investigation.

Moreso, the Department of State Security, DSS, had invited the EFCC Chairman for interrogation late Wednesday night.
