POS Operator Lead Ovwian Police To Kidnappers

This confirmation was made public on Sunday by the State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe.

He said a kidnapped and robbery case was reported on 15 May 2023, at the Ovwian /Aladja Police station, where the victim was intercepted by some suspected kidnappers who abducted him and his wife, put them in the trunk of their car and drove them to an unknown destination, emptied their bank account through bank transfer before they were released.

A similar case was also reported on the 7th of April 2023 by another victim, with the same method.

DPO of the Ovwian Aladja division, CSP Aliyu Shaba, however detailed detectives to carry out a discreet investigation will lead to their arrest.

After a series of investigations, a POS operator whose account was used by the hoodlums to always transfer money from their victim’s account was arrested on 20th May.

The PoS operator however claimed ignorance of what the suspects do but gave the police credible information that led to the arrest of 33 years old Admin Lucky Onweiyali, the gang leader on June 1st.

The suspect led the police to the houses of other gang members and to the house of one 56 years Akporido Stanley, who hide the weapon for them.

One locally made gun and three live cartridges were recovered. The Suspects are in police custody and the investigation is ongoing.
