Police Open Rivers State LGAs After Saturday’s Election

In compliance with the directive given by the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, Rivers State 23 Local Governments Secretariat which were sealed for months, have been opened.
In accordance with the directive, the State Commissioner of Police, Bala Mustapha, through the spokesperson of the command, Grace Iringe-Koko, released a statement on Monday a few hours after Governor Siminalayi Fubura swore in the newly elected chairmen from Saturday’s election.
In July, the 23 local government headquarters in Rivers state were sealed with security personnel at the premises following the crisis that erupted from the tenure elongation of the past chairmen.
Therefore, to make things work smoothly for the LGA, the police force has to take the withdrawal decision from the premises.
