Police Detonate IED in Bayelsa State

An Improvised Explosive Device caused an explosion at the Bayelsa State Secretariat Complex on Wednesday at about 6:00 a.m.
The device was quickly detonated by the state command that arrived at the scene promptly.
Speaking about the incident, the spokesperson for the Bayelsa State Police Command, DSP Musa Muhammed, confirmed that a 60-year-old suspect, Pentecost Elijah, from Otuan Community in Southern Ijaw LGA, Bayelsa, was arrested at the scene in connection with the explosion.
Upon arrival at the scene, the operatives of the Explosive Ordinance Unit swiftly contained the explosion, and the area was immediately cordoned off.
Upon search, another unexploded IED was identified by the Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) Unit. No lives were lost, and no property was destroyed.
The suspect arrested is under investigation at the State Criminal Investigation Department and, upon conclusion, will be charged in court.
