Police have arrested one Lauretta Akomen in Warri, Delta State, for buying a three-day-old baby from a traditional birthing home in Port Harcourt Rivers State for 2 million naira.

On October 1, 2024, an unidentified tricycle rider carrying four women in the commercial city of Warri, suddenly diverted to Ekpan police station after a suspicious conversation amongst the women concerning the baby being carried.

Before diverting the passengers to the police station, two of the women came down and waved goodbye to the other two still inside the tricycle with the baby.

On interrogation, Akomen revealed that she was given some medications that made her look like she was pregnant and told when to come collect the baby.

According to DSP Bright Edafe, the Police Public Relations Officer of Delta State Command, on Friday explained that the suspects are currently under investigation.
