President Bola Tinubu has requested a total clampdown on those flying and masquerading Russian flags in some Northern states in the ongoing nationwide protest.
Briefing State House Correspondents on Monday after a National Security Council meeting, Gen. Christopher Musa, Chief of Defence Staff revealed that the violent activities erupted by hoodlums who took over the protest was worrisome.
The move made the Presidency give a clear warning that nobody or individuals flying a foreign flag in the sovereign territory of Nigeria would be tolerated since it is a treasonable act.
Following the move, 31 producers and a distributor have been arrested in Kano, Kaduna state.
According to the ACP Muyiwa Adejobi, 30 of the Russia flag producers were arrested in Kaduna while the one who serves as distributor and recruiter of flag bearers was arrested in Kano.
Reacting to the development, the Russian Embassy in Nigeria in a statement, said the Government of Russia had no involvement with the Russia flags displayed during the nationwide protest.
