Police Arrest Port Harcourt Pastor for Maltreating Minors

A 41-year-old pastor, Ifediorah Onyeibor Joseph, with a church in Eneka, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, has been arrested by the State Police for maltreating minors in his church program.

The clergyman was arrested after a video circulated showing him flogging about 20 children with palm fronds while they were on their knees holding palms and crying.

According to the police spokesperson of Rivers State, Grace Iringe-Koko, the pastor organized a 3-day “spiritual cleaning” program for the children, which was inspired by the Holy Spirit.

Upon receiving intelligence reports, the children were rescued, and the pastor, along with other church members present, were arrested. Further investigations are underway.
