Following the directives of the organised labour to withdraw flights to Owerri across the country, the Nigeria Labour Congress and Trade Union Congress on Thursday blocked the entry and exit entrance of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.

The protesters attempted to enter the airport but were stopped by military personnel at the checkpoint.

The refusal of the military made the protesters block the entry and exit points of the airport causing heavy traffic.

Travellers were forced to start making their way into the airport on foot.

The NLC and TUC had earlier declared a nationwide strike after Joe Ajaero president of NLC was beaten last week in Imo State.
