Parents Fume Over Abortion Content On Junior Secondary Text Book

The secondary textbook titled Classic Basic Science and Technology for Junior Secondary School 3, used by some schools in Nigeria, has sparked up a debate among citizens, parents, and teachers associations, with many calling for its ban and withdrawal.

A particular page of the book gave a detailed explanation of Dilation and Curettage, popularly known as D&C abortion, when and what time of the month it can be done, and the instrument needed for it. Also it discussed Dilation Evacuation, D & E.

Concerned citizens are alarmed at the extent of information ditched in the textbook after the page on abortion was posted on X and talked about how young ones can use pills to avoid abortion.

However, while some persons criticize the content of the book, others claim that the information is for JSS 3 and SS 1 students who are 13 and above of age since some of them are exposed to sex early.

Furthermore, the National President of the All Nigeria Conference of Principals of Public Schools and the Parents Teachers Association, Musa Ibrahim, revealed that an investigation is being carried out in the book.
