Osimhen Named CAF Player Of The Year

Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen has been crowned the 2023 CAF African Player of the Year.

The 24-year-old who also is a Napoli striker, got the highest vote, defeating Egypt’s player, Mohammed Salah and Achraf Hakimi of Morocco to wear the crown.

Osimhen made a difference as the first Nigerian to win the CAF Men’s Player of the Year after it was last won by Nwankwo Kanu in 1999.

The 2022/2023 season was a remarkable one for Osimhen as he helped the club to win the Serie A title after 30 years.

He scored 26 league goals and 31 in all competitions to win the Golden Boot and emerge the Serie A Player of the Season.

Osimhen was ranked as the 8 best player in the world alongside Luka Modric, Mohammed Salah and Bernardo Silva of Manchester City at the 2023 Ballon d’Or.
