A leaked audio that found way to the Governor of Ondo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has called for the sack of the Special Assistant on Forestry (Central Senatorial District) after demanding bribe from timber traders in the state.
Adeboye Taofiq Ewenla, the SSA on Forestry, had reached out to the traders and demanded the sum of 30 million naira from them, and failure to make payment would attract the anger of the governor, and they would all be banished from the forest.
Irritated by the demand of Ewenla, the timber traders vowed to protest the order, which he said was from the governor.
On Wednesday, in a statement through the Chief Press Secretary, Ebenezer Adeniyan, an investigation into the allegation and immediate, replacement sack of Enwela was announced, while those in charge of the forest reserves across the state will also be investigated.
