A man identified as Lekan Lasisi has accidentally killed his stepbrother in Abule Tuntun, Odeda Local Government Area of Ogun State, over a dispute regarding a N4000 debt that escalated into a confrontation involving a gun and a cutlass.

Lasisi, in a video, explained that on the 19th of December, while returning from the market, he was approached by one of his brother’s creditors. Upon returning home, angry, he met the deceased to discuss the frequent embarrassment brought to the family.

According to Lasisi, the brother brought out a cutlass to attack him, and he went inside to retrieve his hunting gun, but not with the intention of shooting him; he accidentally cocked the gun.

Appealing to the government to temper justice with mercy, the suspect stressed that their mother was aged and that the third child, who could have cared for her, was bedridden with illness.

Confirming the incident on 29th December, the spokesperson of the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Babseyi Oluseyi, said that Lasisi has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for investigation.
