Social media users have expressed their opposition to the reopening of the Lekki Tollgate as decided by the Lagos State Judicial Panel of Inquiry and Restitution for Victims of SARS Related Abuses.
The panel had on Saturday granted the prayers of the Lekki Concession Company to reopen the toll plaza. The decision had generated lots of reactions since Saturday, with quite a lot of social media users expressing dissatisfaction with the panel’s decision.
As of Monday morning, Twitter users have been calling for a protest at the Lekki tollgate on Saturday, 13th February 2021. Some of those calling for the protest said the panel’s decision smacks of injustice.
Twitter user, Tammy said, “I smiled when I saw #OccupyLekkiTollGate trending. Justice must be served, otherwise no peace for the government.”
Adeyemi Samuel tweeted, “I was more than happy when I saw #OccupyLekkiTollGate. There is no going back. The date is set. If reopening of Lekki Tollgate is needed in any way, justice, at least, comes first. #EndSARS”
Another social media user, Somto Onuchukwu tweeted, “What we have learned from the Judicial panels, #EndSARS and #LekkiMassacre: Never negotiate with this govt, When you go out on the streets, stay on the streets until your demands are met. We should #OccupyLekkiTollGate.”
