Oborevwori Directs Immediate Payment of New Minimum Wage

The Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has directed that payment of the new minimum wage to workers in the state, starts immediately with effect from this month of October.

With the Minimum wage fixed at N77,500, all calculation discrepancies is said not affect payments but will be addressed in due course.

Secretary to the State Government, Kingsley Emu, who disclosed the Governor’s directive during a meeting of the Committee on the new minimum wage with leadership of the Organized Labour in Delta State, said even though they are yet to determine all the ramifications of the consequential adjustments on the future cash flow requirements of the State, the Governor directed that payment be made as he feels the pains of the people.
