No Assassination Attempt On My Life – Yahaya Bello

Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State has refuted claims that there was an attempt on his life by assassins while going on official duty.

Reports yesterday surfaced online that there was an attempted attack on the Governor of Kogi State on his way to Abuja.

A statement from the Kogi State Commissioner for Information, Kingsley Fanwo on Sunday 22 October 2023, said the attempted attack took place around 4:pm

“The attackers dressed in military uniforms waylaid the governor’s convoy and started shooting sporadically at his vehicle and other vehicles in the convoy. It took the swift intervention of the security personnel attached to the governor to foil the satanic plans of the unknown soldiers.”

However, in a Facebook Live, Bello denied there was no such attack on his life.

“Misguided elements will take this out of context. You are not doing me any favour by putting fake news out there, saying Governor Yahaya Belo escaped assassination when there was nothing of that nature.

“There was a minor fracas between the military and the police attached to my convoy. It was resolved within five minutes,” he said.
