Following the deployment of military aircraft to the Benin Republic on Sunday after an attempted coup, eleven Nigerian soldiers have been held by the military in Burkina Faso since Monday night.

The Nigerian soldiers were captured in Bobo-Dioulasso, southwest of Burkina Faso, after their aircraft conducted an emergency landing, which violated AES airspace.

A statement by AES, shared by Brant Grant, a security analyst on X, claims that the Nigerian Air Force C-130 aircraft violated Burkina Faso airspace and conducted an emergency landing in Bobo-Dioulasso, and any such aircraft will be neutralized.

According to Grant, the Nigerian Air Force C-130 might be heading to Senegal, and there is nothing too suspicious.

“I initially guessed the NAF C-130 cargo plane was heading towards Tamale, Ghana, but it turned off its transponder, either intentionally or due to the emergency situation, and went ghost, continuing northwest towards Burkina Faso, where it was forced to land in an emergency,” Grant said.
