The World Health Organization (WHO) has raised an alarm about a new strain of Monkey Pox virus spreading widely in the Democratic Republic of Congo, DRC.
An outbreak has already taken South Kivu province, near the border of Rwanda, Burundi and Uganda.
Officials say the virus can be deadly as some persons affected are seriously ill with signs of skin lesions.
This new strain is believed to spread from sexual intercourse or skin-to-skin contact with global health officials warning that it might spread to other countries.
In 2022 mpox was declared an epidemic and was brought under control by vaccination.
